Happy Day, Silent Night

1:12 am | Tags: Diary

On this Christmas Eve, or Silent Night,  I just want to recap of some highlights which happened today.

Happy Day

A big congrats to Jay and Ah Beet for getting baptised today. They are the only friends whom I have witnessed the baptism ceremony of. Shortly after the ceremony, they shared their delightful, somewhat funny testimonies.

One of the thing the pastor reminded during the service this morning, was the theme of what we are celebrating for, what really concerns us? Is it Christmas shopping, turkey feast, and gifts and parties? Or is it for the arrival of Jesus on earth? It is a simple question, but 99% of the time, we know, and we concern more about the former.

Gift exchange

It was a White Elephant Gift Exchange, where everyone gets a chance to open a wrapped gift or to steal from another. As mine were stolen numerous times, I also got to steal from others and unwrapped gifts a couple of times! Great fun, and I did end up with a solar dancing figurine that I really like. Anyways, thanks to Ah Beet for securing it for me.

Silent Night

Silent Night was not so silent, as it was spent with friends on board games, pizzas and pop. And I learned to play a new board game, The Settler of Catan. A strategic game it was. Tons of fun.

It was a wonderful day. Merry Christmas.

What would you do?

Suppose a mid-40 woman came up to you, just outside a subway station. She asked you for $25. What would you do?

Suppose she offer to pay you back, stating her name and address, telephone number, and even willing to prove with a tax statement of her valid address and ID number. What would you do?

Suppose she needed the money for taxi fare, because it was an emergency situation. It was 10:20pm, she was unable to get money as all banks are closed. What would you do?

Suppose her mother who was taking care of her children passed out suddenly, due to a chronic diesease, and was sent to a hospital, leaving some young kids un-nursed. The taxi was to bring her children from her mother’s house to her own home. What would you do?

Suppose you think of it as an investment, it is one with high risk, and low/no rate of return since the borrower is a stranger. It is probably the worst investment that one can purchase. However, if you see it as a donation, or doing it for a good cause, becausing you believe that your money can help in the situation. Now what would you choose to do?

Suppose this all happened to me. What do you think I did?
