You added the wrong person
Ever got a call from a person who dialled the wrong number? The conversation would usually be 6 lines long..
Caller: Hi, may I speak to xxx (Insert whatever name)?
Me: I think you got the wrong number.
Caller: Is this (123) 456-8790 (Insert whatever telephone number)?
Me: No, this is (123) 456-7890 (For some reason people tends to switch the 7th and 8th digit around).
Caller: Sorry. Bye…………..(hang up)
Me: (Hang up)
As we are now in the age of the Web, asking for email address and MSN is the "way to go". With initial contacts, this is more common than asking for phone numbers. And so, a similar incident to the wrong phone number may arise. And the equivalent six-line conversation goes like:
MSN’er says (11:47 PM):hi
Me says(11:47 PM): hello.. u are?
MSN’er says (11:48 PM): msn’er. u?
Me says (11:48 PM): patrick. u know me?
MSN’er says (11:49 PM): no
Me says (11:50 PM): mmm… so u added me by mistake I suppose
MSN’er goes offline…
BTW, this just happened to me. The msn’er has a nickname like "… I love my wife forever.." and his MSN pic was his wife (presumably) holding up a bunch of flowers!!! Umm.. is that the web version of PDA? I know it is bad to make such comments about a person that I don’t even know, but the temptation is too great.

Me: (getting annoyed) You got the wrong number.

2 seconds later the phone rang again.
Caller: Lala?
Me: You got the wrong number.
Caller: Hello?
Me: (getting more annoyed) You got the wrong number.
Caller: Hello? Lala?

3 seconds later my phone rang again. I saw it was the same number and I pressed reject right away.
FYI: There’re more than one occasion when strangers call and look for this “LALA” person.
For the MSN version:
Someone added me and I didn’t recognize the email. This person, I assume was a guy, messaged me one day.
MSN’er (quoted Patrick’s): Hi.
Me: Hi. Do I know you?
MSN’er: No.
Me: Do I know anyone you know? (I am assuming that he’s my friend’s friend)
MSN’er: I don’t think so.
Me: So how do you get my email address?
MSN’er: From Flixter.
Me: oh… (and I ignore him)
When I came back from shower etc etc…
MSN’er: Do you like SEX? (I didn’t exaggerate the capital letters)
Me: (block contact, delete contact)
